2018 has been a really great year of music, especially hip hop music. I've always loved indie, pop and hip hop and there are so many songs growing in me this year. And these are my picks for the best albums of 2018. Rather than saying best, it's my top favourite because my opinions don't mean shit so don't come at me when you disagree.
15. Man of the Woods / Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake surprised us with this album. Good to see singers trying all the different musics, and Justin is one of those who always kill it with his talent.
14. Honey / Robyn
Just perfect. Have to be in my list.
13. KOD / J. Cole
Another famous rapper's album, 2018 is truly the year for hip hop musics.
12. Hive Mind / The Internet
You don't need a reason to love The Internet. If you like this album you should also listen to Syd and Steve Lacy's songs, they are both good, and better when they come in together as The Internet.
11. K.T.S.E / Teyana Taylor
Know this woman because she danced in Kanye West's Fade video and it's good. Now she sing, and it's good too. I feel like Kanye really helps artists/singers to be the best version of themselves.
10. Negro Swan / Blood Orange
Another underrated album/artist you need to know.
9. Daytona / Pusha T
Yes Pusha T, never listened to him before until this album, and it's for Kanye. Diss track against Drake in it but who cares, his diss track actually top Drake's one lol. I love Drake but Pusha Nailed it this time.
8. A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationship / The 1975
Current on-repeat album, because this released a week ago. Been waiting for this album for awhile and The 1975 never disappoint, never. Their songs actually help me overcome my anxiety and Matty is one of the best musicians in this era.
7. NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPS / Metro Boomin
Why I like this album? Because it features Swae Lee, Travis Scott and all the other good rappers and they kill it. A masterpiece by a bunch of rappers indeed.
6. iridescent / BROCKHAMPTON
I love Brockhampton. Always love a good boy band and they have 13 members in it, amazing. This album wasn't as good as their second album (to me personally), but still they manage to make very unique hip hop musics and they deserve more attentions than they have now.
5. Isolation / Kali Uchis
Kali Uchis is wayyyyyyy too underrated. She is perfect, the queen herself, this album is perfect, go listen to it.
4. ¿Teo? / ¿Teo?
This might be a little bit unfamiliar to all of you but yes his musics are more to Jazz and yes it's fucking good. I love listen to it when I'm depressed because it kinda keep my minds calm. The best song in the album of course is the one featuring Jaden Smith : Uno Dos (This is also how I find him out).
3. KIDS SEE GHOSTS / KIDS SEE GHOSTS
2018 is truly a big year for Kanye West. His record company (GOOD Company) has 5 albums coming out this year and all of them are so good. But my favourite one goes to KIDS SEE GHOSTS because two of my favourite rappers Kid Cudi and Kanye West released a whole damn album together. This album truly grow hip hop musics in me.
2. Sweetener / Ariana Grande
Wow. Ariana. Surprised. I know Ariana Grande in my high school because my friend Jie Xin is such a big fan from the beginning. And I never really listen to her songs other than those big hits that play repeatedly on the radio and I never thought I would ever like her in my life hahaha. Sweetener is such a good album, every damn song in it especially Successful. Also Pharrell Williams produced half of the songs, genius.
1. Whack World / Tierra Whack
This album is my top favourite of the year without any doubt. All the tracks are so different from whatever you've listened before and I'm down for it. Tierra Whack is like one of my favourites of all time. Too bad all the tracks are very short and I couldn't get enough of the album! I don't have a favourite song because all the tracks are great equally, it's more complete if you listen to the album as a whole.
